Let’s define the problem. When your sitting in your favorite recliner and the phone rings trying to get out of your chair is much slower than it used to be. Usually the reason this is happening is the mechanism has gotten out of alignment due to loose mounting bolts and the pivot points need a little lubrication.
The fix: Flip the chair over and prepare for a much better operating chair. Get out a 7/16 or 11mm socket or wrench. If you don’t have these you could use an adjustable wrench as well. It won’t work as easily but it can be done.
Look into the mechanism and find all of the bolts that mount the whole setup. There may also be some bolts that hold the parts together as well. Use the socket to tighten everything you see. Be careful not to strip any bolts. Once everything is good and snug go to the kitchen and get some cooking spray. This is the preferred lubricant because it has very little odor. WD something will stink forever. Spray all of the pivot points. Anything that moves should be clean and well lubed. Wipe off the excess lube and flip your chair over. Recline and smile at your accomplishment.

First of all let’s define what type of furniture repair we are talking about.  On the front edge of a wood chair seat the finish is frequently missing.  This happens when clothing rubs against it.  Fortunately this is an easy permanent repair.

Step one- Clean the chair seat with some soapy dishwater.  Kitchen chairs have much more goo and should absolutely be cleaned prior to performing any wood repair.  Dry with any cotton towel.

Step two- Fan out the Exact Match Wood Touch Up color cards and pick the color you want to use. Usually you pick a color a bit darker than the surrounding wood.

Step three- Activate the Exact Match color card and load the brush with stain. Once the brush is full, apply it to the edge of the chair where the finish is missing.  With most repairs the tip of the brush is used however with this particular repair using the edge of the brush will give you superior results.  Once all of missing finish is covered allow to dry for a few minutes and apply a high quality non silicone based polish. Your repair will last for years and it won’t rub off  onto your clothes. www.exactmatchwoodtouchup.com
